BREAKING:Abba Kyari arrives Lagos in air ambulance

Abba Kyari, the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, has arrived Lagos. He was transferred from Abuja to Lagos to continue his treatment for coronavirus. Kyari was conveyed to Nigeria’s commercial hub in an air ambulance, Daily Trust reports. The top government official tested positive after he returned from Germany. Nigeria currently has over 110 cases. Meanwhile, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says it is looking for 6,000 people who have had close contact with persons infected with coronavirus.

Senators donate 50 percent of their salaries to support fight against coronavirus

  Nigerian senators on Monday March 30, announced that they will be donating 50 percent of their salaries from March to support the fight against coronavirus in the country. . In a statement made available to newsmen by the upper legislative chamber's spokesperson Godiya Akwashiki, the senate disclosed that their monthly contribution would continue till the country is declared free of the disease. Akwashiki stated that the senate is willing and ready to do whatever is required of the Legislature for the effectiveness of all the measures in place now or that may be required in the future to win the fight against coronavirus.

Four supermarkets and pharmacies have been sued by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission for increasing the prices of hand sanitizers following the outbreak of coronavirus in the country. . The four supermarkes; Prince Ebeano Supermarket Limited and its proprietor, David Ojei, and Bakan Gizo Pharmacy & Stores Nigeria Limited and their representatives, Ray Opia and Luter Irene, H-Medix Pharmacy & Stores Limited and their representatives, Sandra Ejekwu and John Oluwagbemiga, as well as Faxx Stores & Trading Limited and its representative, Adogah Ahmed were slammed with a six-count charge which centered on arbitrary increase in the price of hand sanitizers, hand-wash liquids, disinfectants and other anti-bacterial products of different brands. . 'Brighter Grammar' author, phebean Ajibola Ogundipe dies at aged 92

Phebean Ajibola Ogundipe, the co-author of the popular English Language textbook "Brighter Grammar" has died at the age of 92. Mrs Phebean Ajibola, popularly known as PA Ogundipe, was a famous author of English Language books and an educationist. She co-authored the Brighter Grammar series with M. Macaulay and C.E. Eckersley. She also co-authored the New Practical English for Senior Secondary series with P.S. Tregidgo. PA Ogundipe also wrote other books, including Up-country Girl: A personal journey and truthful portrayal of African culture.  She was born on May 16, 1927, and died early on Friday, March 27, in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States of America. She was buried on the same Friday she died.

Family offers N2m for information about Bauchi governor's brother kidnap

The family of Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has offered N2 million for information on the abduction of Alhaji Adamu Duguri, the governor’s elder brother. Politics Nigeria reports that Duguri was abducted by gunmen in Bauchi at about 7:30pm on Wednesday. According to the police, four gunmen armed with AK47 rifles whisked Daguri away from a tailor’s shop in Unguwar Jaki area of Bauchi State. The N2 million reward was offered in a statement in Bauchi on Sunday by Alhaji Adamu Barde, on behalf of the family. “Following the unfortunate kidnap of our father, brother and uncle, Alh. 15 year old girl allegedly killed by customs officers

Officers of the Nigeria Customs Service have been accused of shooting and killing a 15-year-old girl identified as Miss Sekinat Agbelade, while chasing a rice smuggler in Agosasa community in Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State.  Agbelade who died at a private hospital in the community on Saturday March 28, was running an errand before being hit by the stray bullet from the men of Customs Service.  Ogun state Police spokesperson,  Abdulahi Maiwada confirmed the incident but said he doesn't have the facts.  He said;   “I can confirm the incident but I don’t have the facts. Drinking hot water won't cleanse coronavirus from system -immunologist

Arinola of the Department of Immunology, University of Ibadan, said this while speaking to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Ibadan. NAN reports that there had been circulation of messages on the social media that drinking hot water was an effective way to wash the COVID-19 into the stomach and get rid of the deadly virus. Arinola, however, said that the steam from hot water might help calm or reduce symptoms of COVID-19 but would not cure it.
