Crossover Defaulters To Pay N500,000 In Lagos

Residents of Lagos on Wednesday have been warned by the state government to comply with all restriction measures imposed by the authorities to curb the spread of coronavirus amid the second wave of the pandemic. According to the state government, Lagosians who violate the 12am to 4am curfew imposed by the Federal Government and other protocols would be fined up to N500,000 when caught. The government stressed that all churches in the state must respect the curfew in place and avoid physical crossover services and large gatherings on December 31, 2020. This was stated by Mr Gbenga Omotoso, the Lagos state commissioner for information in an interview with our correspondent on Wednesday. He said, “If you flout any of these rules, you can be fined. You will be taken to court and the magistrate will decide on the sanction. The fine can be between N20,000 and N500,000. Police arrest organizers of Kaduna Sex Party

The police in Kaduna State have arrested the organizers of an aborted maiden edition of a Kaduna sex party. According to Tribune, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Abdullah Yunus, said the police made the arrest after fliers of the event were circulated on social media.  When contacted, the police spokesperson, ASP, Muhammad Jalige confirmed the development saying, police were able to trace the venue and made some arrests.  “We are investigating those behind the sex party and will soon give details of our findings,” he said 

Pregnant woman conceives a third baby while already pregnant with twins

A woman got pregnant again while still pregnant with twins.   The US mum-to-be is now expecting triplets after conceiving while already pregnant with twins.   Doctors told the woman and her fiancé they were expecting twins and they were overjoyed with the news.   The woman was then stunned when doctors later told her she was carrying triplets after a third baby was conceived around 10 days after the twins had been conceived.   The woman took to TikTok with the handle @theblondebunny1 to share her incredible journey as she gets ready to welcome the three babies next year.     The woman, who works in marketing, explained that the phenomenon is called superfetation, and occurs when a woman ovulates twice a month.   The mum-to-be said: "Normally your body is supposed to switch up your hormones and stop you from ovulating again once you‘re already pregnant. Femi Odekunle, Nigeria’s first professor of criminology dies from COVID-19

Femi Odekunle, a member of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) and Nigeria’s first professor of criminology has died from Coronavirus complications.    The Cable reported that Odekunle died at the COVID-19 isolation center in Gwagalada, Abuja on Tuesday evening.   This is coming after the Chairman of the presidential task force on COVID-19 and secretary to the government of the federation, Boss Mustapha said on Tuesday December 29;     “A good friend of this government just passed on at 6:30pm”.   It is unclear if Mustapha was referring to Odekunle or another person, but he said discussions were ongoing to help the deceased hours before news of his death broke.

Osun rescinds decision, permits crossover services

The Osun state government has rescinded its earlier decision of banning crossover services due to the increased cases of Coronavirus in the country.    The permission for crossover services to hold in the state was conveyed in a statement titled ‘Covid-19: Osun gives fresh directives on Crossover Service’ and signed by the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs Funke Egbemode.   Egbemode said the government’s sensitivity to the mood of the season has necessitated a review of its earlier position.   She said;    “The Government of the State of Osun has decided to allow cross over religious gatherings, But any organisation holding cross over service must note that they are expected to close the service early and everyone must be off the streets by 1:00am. “Security operatives have been given the directive to enforce this guideline. We bombed heart of Sambisa and killed insurgents – Defence Headquarters

The Defence Headquarters has said that many insurgents were killed after the Nigerian Air Force conducted airstrikes on Sambisa Forest in Borno State.   DHQ spokesman, Maj. Gen. John Enenche in a statement titled ‘Air Task Force destroys hideout, neutralises several terrorists in Sambisa Forest, Borno State', said the NAF jets bombed “the ‘S’ region in the heart of the Sambisa Forest” on Monday December 28.    He added that the air interdiction missions carried out by the Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole have continued to deal decisive blows on the terrorist elements in the North-East.   The statement read;    “The NAF attack aircraft engaged the target area in successive passes, leading to the destruction of some of their structures and logistics stores, including a suspected anti-aircraft gun station as the terrorists fired at the NAF aircraft. Several insurgents were also neutralised in the process.”

Suspected kidnappers dressed in military camouflage abduct farmer in Oyo state

Armed men numbering about six and dressed in military camouflage have abducted a farm owner, Oluwole Agbolla, on his piggery/fish farm located at Nagbede village via Aba-odo in Oyo state.   A statement released by the spokesperson of the Oyo state police command states that the men who arrived on foot sneaked into the farm and abducted Oluwole, carrying him into the bush.   Olugbenga said immediately the report of the incident got to the notice of DPO Moniya, a search party comprising of plainclothes/Tactical police teams, Vigilantes, hunters, and Amotekun corps swung into action and were deployed to far and near bushes to comb the areas for possible arrest of the hoodlums and also the safe rescue of the victim.   He said efforts are still being made to rescue the victim and get the culprits arrested.   Olugbenga added that the state Commissioner of Police appeals to good-spirited members of the public with useful information to give to the Police to assist in the arrest of the crimina

WHO confirms 'Super Gonorrhea' is spreading fast due to COVID-19

The World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed that a “super gonorrhea” is spreading fast due to the COVID-19 pandemic.   The agency says the disease is spreading due to actual antibiotic overuse for those infected with the novel coronavirus.   The agency also states the sexually transmitted infection (STI) may become even more resistant to the recommended treatments like azithromycin, which typically is used for chest and sinus infections. Azithromycin has seen an increase in usage during the pandemic.   "Such a situation can fuel the emergence of resistance in gonorrhea including gonorrhea superbug (super gonorrhea) or gonorrhea with high-level resistance to current antibiotics recommended to treat it," a WHO spokesperson told British media outlet The Sun.     The new strain does not respond to the normal first-line treatments, making it even more dangerous and uncomfortable for those infected, according to the report.    Doctors and medical experts have long warned of t

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has raised an alarm of January 2021 being a very tough month following the disregard for health protocols during the December holidays.    Speaking at the briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 on Tuesday December 29, the Director-General of NCDC, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu noted that the nation’s health system is struggling to cope with the increasing number of coronavirus infections daily. Already about seven states are producing all the rice we need. We must eat what we produce. Going back to the land is the way out. We depend on petrol at the expense of agriculture. At the same time, the technical cost of our production per barrel is high, compared to the Middle East production. We are back to the land now. We must not lose the opportunity to make life easier for our people. Imagine what would have happened if we didn’t encourage agriculture and closed the borders.

French-Italian fashion designer, Pierre Cardin dies at 98

French-Italian fashion designer, Pierre Cardin has died at the age of 98.   Cardin known for his visionary creations and also bringing stylish clothes to the masses, died at a hospital in Neuilly, west of Paris, on Tuesday at the age of 98, his family told news agency AFP.   France's Fine Arts Academy confirmed Cardin's death in a tweet, adding that members of the academy are "very sad."   Cardin was born in Italy in 1922 but emigrated to France as a young child. He founded his own fashion house in 1950 after a stint with Christian Dior and built up a global business empire.   Along with Paco Rabanne and Andre Courrege, Cardin was hailed for developing the futuristic Space-Age-inspired styles that defined looks in the 1960s and 1970s.   He was also credited with bringing stylish clothes to the masses, popularizing the turtleneck sweater for men and bodysuits for women.   Cardin adopted a large-scale licensing system that ensured distribution throughout the world, putt

Five persons, including a toddler died during a shoot-out between two rival cult groups at Lobia community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Asinim Buswat, who confirmed the incident said four cultists were killed during the clash which happened in the ealy hours of Monday, December 28.     It was gathered that the two rampaging cult groups supposedly from Ukubie and Azuzuama communities clashed during the remembrance ceremony of one Chief Genesis at Lobia II community over a conflict that could not be immediately ascertained.   According to community sources, the toddler, said to be the son of one Mr Amos, an indigene of Lobia I,  was hit by a stray bullet. "He caught me right red handed in bed with his wife" - Man tells police he killed his married lover's husband in self defense

A Zambian man has told police he killed his married girlfriend's husband in self defence after the deceased caught them in bed together.   According to Zambian Observer, police in Kitwe arrested Enock Mwenda for killing his lover's husband on December 21, 2020.   It was gathered that the deceased, a bricklayer returned home from work that fateful day after having been away on duty for two weeks. The boyfriend visited his lover not knowing the husband was coming back that evening. The husband found the two in bed and there was confrontation during which the suspect overpowered the deceased and hit him on the head with a stool, killing him instantly. During police interrogation on December 25, Enock said he was shocked when the man caught him in bed with his wife.    "I have been going out with his wife since 29th January 2018 when I employed her in one of my shops within Kitwe and her husband has never caught me," Enock said.    "He caught me red handed in his bed

Youtube star, Grace Victory in coma with Coronavirus just one day after giving birth to her baby boy

Youtube star, Grace Victory, has been placed in a medically induced coma a day after giving birth to her son.  According to the message posted to the British vlogger's Instagram on Monday, Dec. 28, Grace tested positive for COVID-19 two weeks ago while in the third trimester of her pregnancy. Her condition worsened and doctors induced the birth on Christmas Eve, December 24,  which was not due until February 2021.   "As you guys know, Grace gave birth on Christmas Eve to a beautiful baby boy, who is currently doing so well, he's incredible," the post stated. "We Love him so much. Grace developed Covid-19 two weeks ago and although her symptoms were mild at first, they worsened as the days went on. 23 people killed after truck conveying humans and cows crashed in Niger state

A road crash which occurred around Masha village along the Makera-Mokwa Road in Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger State, has left at least 23 people dead.    The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) commander in Niger, Joel Dagwa told Channels Television that the accident occurred on Monday afternoon and also left no fewer than 33 others with varying degrees of injury.    Dagwa said the accident was a lone crash involving only a blue DAF trailer (95 Model) and was a result of speed limit violation and loss of control. The trailer loaded with cows took off from Kebbi to Lagos State, and was also carrying 55 adult males.   The victims were taken to the General Hospital in Mokwa for treatment where 23 of them were certified dead, and it was further learnt that the driver of the trailer and his assistant fled the scene immediately after the accident happened.   See photos below;   

Teacher, 26, charged with 2nd-degree rape 'for having sex with a 16-year-old male student

A special-education teacher from Oklahoma has been charged with second-degree rape for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old student.   Andee Lantz ,26, was working at Carnegie Public Schools in Oklahoma when she allegedly began a relationship with a 16-year-old student. She later resigned in mid-November amid allegations of sexual misconduct.     According to court documents cited by News9, the case began unfolding on November 16, when Carnegie Schools Superintendent Eric Smith contacted the local police, saying that Lantz was involved in a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student at the local high school.   Smith said the allegations against Lantz came to light after the student began circulating a nude photo of the teacher around the school.   When questioned about the image during a court appearance in Caddo County court last Wednesday, both the boy and Lantz initially 'denied any knowledge of the photo,' but the teacher later allegedly admitted to engaging in an in

27-year-old Nigerian man dupes Indian national by posing as owner of a UK pharmaceutical company

The Cyber Crime Wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) Chennai, India has busted a commodity scam and arrested the prime accused, who is suspected to be part of a network of Nigerian nationals.   The accused Nigerian identified as Fulgens Quadio alias Kristopher Wilmer, 27,  was arrested in Mumbai on Thursday, December 24.     According to police, in 2019, a complainant, K.M. Breonna Taylor's statue vandalized, sculptor calls it 'racist aggression'

Breonna Taylor's statue has been vandalized and smashed, just 2 weeks after it was installed in an area in downtown Oakland.    A manhunt has been launched for those behind the vandalization of the statue which had an inscription that read "Say Her Name Breonna Taylor."   It is speculated that there might be a  surveillance video that will help police find the culprit, but so far no one has been named a suspect.   The sculptor, Leo Carson has already announced that he's starting a GoFundMe page to pay for the repairs.   The furious sculptor said;    "This vandalism is an act of racist aggression, and it shows why sculpture and art matters. Arewa youths call for Bishop Kukah’s arrest and prosecution over his Christmas day statement

The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Diocese, Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah, over his Christmas day message.   Bishop Kukah in his Christmas day message, attacked President Buhari, accusing him of  being nepotistic. He went on to also accuse President Buhari of institutionalizing "northern hegemony by reducing others in public life to second-class status. Saudi Arabia bans child marriages

The Saudi Arabia Ministry of Justice has banned the marriage of persons under 18 years. It also set 18 years as the minimum age for marriage. The Minister of Justice and Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, Sheikh Walid Al-Samaani, issued the new directive in a circular sent to all the courts in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Child marriages are commonplace in Saudi Arabia with one in seven girls marrying before the age of 18.  According to the Justice Ministry ruling, any teenager below the age of 18 will from now on be referred to specialized courts that will assess whether they can get married or not.    These courts' job is to study each child marriage case to confirm that the future spouse who's under 18 years old, boy or girl, will not be harmed as a result of this wedding and that this union will be of the best interest to the youngster.  This new decision follows an earlier law that was revealed in January of this year and which bans the marriage of children under 15

Lin Qi, chairman and CEO of the Chinese entertainment company Yoozoo Group and a producer on Netflix's upcoming series   The Three-Body Problem , has died after he was allegedly poisoned by a co-worker amid fights among his company's executives'   His company, Yoozoo Group confirmed that Lin died on Christmas Day after having been hospitalized about a week earlier.
