Don't allow restructuring agitation lead to war -obasanjo tells buhari

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said the present government needs to heed the agitations of those clamouring for  restructuring before such agitations develop into self-determination. Speaking in Lagos on Saturday at the first memorial lecture organised in honour of the founder of the Oodua People’s Congress, Dr Fredrick Fasehun, the former President advised the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) to heed the call now before it would be too late. In furtherance to the placing of the patient of the Coronavirus disease, a 44-year-old Italian, in a quarantine centre, Lagos and Ogun state governments have identified at least 100 persons who had contact with the index case of the disease in the country. Subsequently, the contacts are being followed up as a precautionary measure against the spread of the virus in the states and the country at large. Coronavirus: Three Chinese Nationals Quarantined In #Plateau

Three Chinese have been quarantined in  Wase local government area of #PlateauState over concerns that they may have contracted coronavirus. Nimkong Ndam, the state commissioner of health, who confirmed the development, said the men arrived the state from Ethiopia on Friday. Ndam said they were in the state for mining activities. Dan Manjang, Plateau commissioner for information, who also confirmed the news, said the Chinese arrived Abuja on Friday and headed for Jos, the state capital, on the same day. Manjang said the trio have been quarantined and are being examined by medical experts deployed by the state ministry of health.

The #BauchiState police have arrested three suspects, Shehu Abdullahi, 20, Babawuro Jauro Sani, 27, and Wada Wakili Musa, 25, who are responsible for some armed robberies in the state. The trio allegedly carried out the recent armed robbery attack of 18/02/2020 on the innocent commuters along Kano-Maiduguri highway after barricading the road with heavy log of woods. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) called in its second witness to testify against Azeez Fashola popularly known as Naira Marley, during the continuation of the singer’s cyber fraud trial on Thursday February 27. Coronavirus: 28 persons quarantined, Lafarge shutdown in #Ogun

At least 28 persons have been identified and quarantined in Ogun State after they came in contact with Nigeria's first case of coronavirus, according to SaharaReporters. The index case, an Italian, came into Nigeria on Monday aboard Turkish Airlines and went straight to #Ewekoro, #OgunState, where he had contact with several #Lafarge employees. The cement factory has allegedly since been shutdown and several employees quarantined. An employee of the company, who drove an Italian infected with Coronavirus with an ambulance to Lagos for medical attention, has also been taken in. A clinic situated inside the cement factory has also been shut down while staff are currently locked inside a room after fears grew that the Italian had been in contact with many persons in Ogun State before being rushed to #Lagos for medical help. PDP blames Buhari for coronavirus in Nigeria

Nigeria’s main opposition party, PDP, has blamed the country’s president, Muhammadu Buhari, for the coronavirus that has now been detected in the country. King Paul Akpan Udoh, Italian-Nigerian player, has become the first footballer to be infected with coronavirus . King Paul currently plies his trade with Pianese, an Italian Serie C side. The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (Nahcon) on Friday suspended the Umrah pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia, just hours after a case of the deadly coronavirus was confirmed in Lagos Nahcon said those who had planned to travel for the Umrah, or to visit the Prophet’s mosque in Medina, should suspend the arrangements until further notice. The Italian who brought coronavirus to Nigeria has been traced to Ogun State. According to the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mr Femi Hamzat, the Italian visited Ewekoro in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State. He said this when he appeared on a programme on  Television Continental  on Friday morning. According to Hamzat, the Italian had a consultancy job with a company in Ogun State. A proposed bill says the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) will fund an agency for the rehabilitation of insurgents in the north-east, the PUNCH reports. The Senator Gaidam sponsored-bill titled ‘Establishment of the National Agency for the Education, Rehabilitation, De-radicalisation and Integration of Repentant Insurgents in Nigeria and for Other Connected Purposes’ has passed first reading. According to the news report, the rehab commission will also be funded by 0.5% of the federal allocation to the six states in the north-east, 1% of the education Tax Fund (TETFund) and UBEC fund. It also provides for foreign education for repentant insurgents. “The agency shall implement programmes geared towards the rehabilitation of beneficiaries, engage the services of offshore and Nigerian institutions in the pursuit of the educational needs of ex-agitators,” section 5 of the bill reads. The Rivers State Police Command, has raided a child trafficking facility, also known as, a ‘baby factory’ holding at least 23 children and four pregnant teenagers. “In a covert operation on Tuesday, our men burst a child trafficking syndicate at a baby factory at Woji in Port Harcourt; where 24 babies between the ages of one and two, and four pregnant teenagers were rescued,” Nnamdi Omoni, the commands spokesperson revealed. The Centre for Disease Control in the United States has warned that facial hair can interfere with face masks and respirators, which are being used around the world in an effort to combat the global spread of coronavirus, a.k.a 2019-nCoV. The CDC has come up with an infographic, which displays assorted styles of beards, and showing the ones that are compatible with masks and respirators. Health officials said some types of facial hair can keep the exhalation valve from working properly,  PUNCH HealthWise  reports, quoting the CNN News. Styles such as side whiskers, handlebar mustaches, and several others are okay, but styles such as mutton chops and full beards are not recommended. Things like goatees and villain mustache are okay, with caution. The main idea is that the hair should not cross the respirator sealing surface.

Ex-banker sentenced to 18 years in prison for fraud

A former Relationship Manager with a bank in Enugu, has been handed an 18 year jail sentence after being arraigned before a Federal High Court in Enugu by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a six-amended-count charge bordering on forgery, altering and giving a loan with defective collateral. EFCC Acting Head of Media and Publicity, Tony Orilade said the convict identified as Onyekachi Nwosu was found guilty on all the six-count charge and sentenced accordingly. He revealed that Nwosu altered several account documents of his friend who he illegally granted loan to enhance his Visa application to United Kingdom. Justice D.V. Agishi who ruled on the case, said the prosecution team proved its case beyond doubt. The  Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria  (FAAN) has announced that an emergency simulation exercise is presently holding at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. A statement by Henrietta Yakubu, General Manager, Corporate Affairs, FAAN, explained that the exercise is an operational requirement of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for aerodrome.
