NDLEA intercepts cocaine and heroine concealed in earrings and cream containers at different courier companies in Lagos





The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA has intercepted well-concealed and unaccompanied parcels of cocaine, heroin, and other hard drugs meant for shipping to the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, Australia, Maldives, and New Zealand.

A notorious drug trafficker, Sikiru Owolabi, who owned two of the parcels, was traced and arrested after days of intelligence gathering and surveillance by NDLEA operatives. NDLEA undercover agents attached to two international courier companies in Lagos made the seizures.

A statement released by the spokesperson of the agency, Femi Babafemi today March 23, said the suspect was arrested after 1kg of cocaine concealed in cream containers and was to be shipped to Dublin was intercepted at one of the courier firms in Lagos. This was also followed by the discovery of another 200g of cocaine meant to be shipped to London by the same courier company just as another 390 gramme of cocaine hidden in men's clothing and was to be shipped to Northern Ireland was intercepted in the same company.

In a related development, 320g of heroin concealed in earrings coming from Congo en route Australia were seized at a different courier company in Lagos.

The statement adds that 500g of Cannabis Sativa concealed in automobile parts going to New Zealand was seized at one of the courier companies while 200g of methamphetamine hidden in an award plaque and going to New Zealand as well as 200g of methamphetamine concealed in a book and going to Maldives were intercepted in another firm.

Emir of rano is sick but not related to Coronavirus- officials

Officials of the Rano Emirate Council in Kano State has confirmed that the Emir of Rano, Dr Tafida Abubakar Ila II, is sick but not related to covid-19. This was coming as reports making rounds in the state says the Emir is hospitalized over suspected case of covid-19. The officials on the Emirates official twitter handle said the Emir is fast recuperating on his sickbed.
