Man arrested for allegedly raping 4-year old daughter of his co-tenant in Ogun



The police in Ogun state have arrested 25-year-old Elisha James, pictured above, for allegedly raping the 4 year-old-daughter of his co-tenant (Name-withheld).

A statement released by the spokesperson of the command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, states that the suspect who resides at Mokore road area of Warewa, was arrested on the 29th of March 2021 following the report lodged by the mother of the victim, who reported at Warewa divisional headquarters that while she went out to spread some clothes she washed at about 7pm, she heard her 4years old daughter crying in the room of the suspect. She stated further that when she entered the room, she met the suspect defiling her daughter.

Abimbola said that on the strength of the report, the DPO Warewa division, CSP Folashade Tanaruno, quickly detailed detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested.

The police spokesperson added that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Edward A. Ajogun has directed that the suspect be transferred to the Anti-human trafficking and child labor unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and prosecution.

39-yr-old man caught defiling a mentally-challenged minor under a tree

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has arrested a 39-year-old man, Segun Oni, for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old girl in Igbaja area of the state. The command’s spokesperson, Babawale Afolabi, in a statement said the suspect was arrested on Monday, June 14, 2021, after the victim’s grandfather reportedly caught the suspect in the act under a mango tree. Afolabi stated that after a thorough investigation, it was discovered that the victim was suffering from congenital mental deficiency “which has impaired her communication and social skills. Literarily, she hardly talks to people.” The statement said a medical report obtained from a hospital in Ijagbo town showed penetration and bruises in the victim’s private area. The suspect confessed that on several occasions he lured the young girl with gifts to isolated areas to take advantage of her, Afolabi added.
