Man allegedly stabs his younger brother to death in Edo

A man identified as Kadir(pictured right) is on the run after he allegedly stabbed his younger brother, Suleiman (pictured left) to death in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.

It was gathered that trouble started on Friday morning, February 19, when Suleiman scolded Kadir’s wife for being rude to their mother.

Kadir, who was not home when the altercation happened, confronted his younger brother for daring to rebuke his wife when he returned. Their mother was said to have intervened and settled the quarrel between the two siblings.

However, not satisfied, Kadir was said to have revisited the issue later in the day and once again, their mother stepped in and calmed the situation.

Suleiman was said to have put the matter behind him and went about his normal business. Kadir later traced him to where he went to late in the evening, allegedly stabbed him and fled.

Suleiman was rushed to the hospital on Friday night where he died on Saturday morning from the injury he sustained during the attack.

Spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command, Princewill Osaigbovo, who confirmed the incident said that the victim died at the St. Jude Hospital, where he was rushed to for medical attention.

Boko Haram throws Maiduguri into darkness again, blows up power tower.

Barely 72 hours after electric power was restored in Maiduguri, Borno State, Boko Haram insurgents on Saturday, March 27, blew up another transmission tower in the city. Premium Times reports that the insurgents planted explosives on each leg of the tower, which they detonated at about 6 a.m. In January, the terrorists struck power installations thrice at a location about 50km from Maiduguri to keep the city in the dark. The power, was however, restored on Wednesday, March 24, after nearly two months of blackout. While reconnecting the installation, three TCN officials were severely injured by a landmine planted by the insurgents. Another official was said to have lost his life after falling off a tower. Nigerian footballer, Kelvin Odenigbo, drowns in Belarus lake

A Nigerian footballer, Kelvin Odenigbo, playing for FC Vitebsk in Belarus, has been found dead after drowning in a lake.
