INTERPOL arrest two kano based suspects for international child pornography

Operatives of the Nigeria Police INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, have arrested two Kano based suspects, Ibrahim Muazzam Mohammad Aminu and Mohammad Tahir Umar, for engaging in international child pornography.

Force spokesperson, CP Frank Mba, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, said investigations revealed that the suspects are members of a trans-border/international child porn syndicate which sexually abuse and take undue advantage of underage girls and disseminate the video recordings of the illicit sexual act on an international social media Whatsapp group chat known as “Pervertidos”, owned and managed by a Brazilian called Adriana.

"Their arrest followed intelligence received from the INTERPOL NCB, Brasilia. Exhibits recovered from the suspects include: three (3) mobile phones and a Laptop computer. Forensic investigations/analysis carried out by the Police team on the gadgets revealed the series of pornographic/erotic videos with underage girls which the suspects shared on the internet for a fee denominated in US Dollars," the statement reads. 

Meanwhile, the IGP notes that a total of two thousand, seven hundred and ninety-two (2,792) suspects were arrested by the Police for Sexual and Gender Based Violence and other sexual related offences in the year 2020.

The statatement said "the arrests are linked to the two thousand, five hundred and seventy-three (2,573) cases currently being prosecuted under the Force Gender Unit in various courts across the country. Others are still under active investigations,"

"The IGP enjoins parents and guardians to keep a close watch on their children and wards and report any incidents of abuse against women and children. He expresses his displeasure with the prevailing culture of silence in concealing crimes against women and children and calls for improved collaboration with the Police, assuring that the Force is well repositioned to protect women and children and confront violent crimes in the country,"

The statement added that the suspects will be arraigned in court on completion of investigations.

Boko Haram throws Maiduguri into darkness again, blows up power tower.

Barely 72 hours after electric power was restored in Maiduguri, Borno State, Boko Haram insurgents on Saturday, March 27,  blew up another transmission tower in the city. Premium Times reports that the insurgents planted explosives on each leg of the tower, which they detonated at about 6 a.m. In January, the terrorists struck power installations thrice at a location about 50km from Maiduguri to keep the city in the dark. The power, was however, restored on Wednesday, March 24, after nearly two months of blackout. While reconnecting the installation, three TCN officials were severely injured by a landmine planted by the insurgents. Another official was said to have lost his life after falling off a tower. The city has now been thrown into another darkness following the Saturday morning attack.

A California parole board on Friday, August 27, voted to release from prison Sirhan Sirhan, the man convicted of sh*oting d*ad Robert F. Kennedy in a 1968 a*sas*ination that rocked the United States. This comes after RFK’s two sons went against several of their siblings’ wishes and said they supported releasing him and prosecutors declined to argue he should be kept behind bars, AP News reports.  Douglas Kennedy was a toddler when his father was g*nned down in 1968. He told a two-person board panel that he was moved to tears by Sirhan’s remorse and that the 77-year-old should be released if he’s not a threat to others. Born March 19, 1944, Sirhan is a Palestinian militant who was found guilty of a*sas*inating the New York Senator and brother of slain president John F Kennedy in a Los Angeles hotel on June 5, 1968.  Robert F.
