Suspected armed robber arrested in Adamawa while trying to smuggle stolen car into Cameroon


Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command have arrested a suspected armed robber, Salisu Abubakar while trying to smuggle a stolen Toyota Corolla into Cameroon. 

 

Spokesperson of the command, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday, November 27, said the suspect was the leader of a robbery gang that attacked a man and snatched his car in Jos. 

 

"On the 18/9/2020 the command received report that a syndicate of armed robbers attacked and robbed an innocent citizen of his vehicle at Lamingo Roundabout, Jos, Plateau State. The principal suspect Salisu Abubakar, a resident of Sangasumi Village,Ganye local government was traced by the police and luckily apprehended in Adamawa while trying to smuggle the vehicle out to Cameroon Republic." said DSP Nguroje.

 

Meanwhile, the State  Commissioner of Police CP Olugbenga Adeyanju, has applauded the effort of the policemen and assured members of the general public that criminals have no place to hide.

    Boko Haram throws Maiduguri into darkness again, blows up power tower.

    Barely 72 hours after electric power was restored in Maiduguri, Borno State, Boko Haram insurgents on Saturday, March 27,  blew up another transmission tower in the city. Premium Times reports that the insurgents planted explosives on each leg of the tower, which they detonated at about 6 a.m. In January, the terrorists struck power installations thrice at a location about 50km from Maiduguri to keep the city in the dark. The power, was however, restored on Wednesday, March 24, after nearly two months of blackout. While reconnecting the installation, three TCN officials were severely injured by a landmine planted by the insurgents. Another official was said to have lost his life after falling off a tower. The city has now been thrown into another darkness following the Saturday morning attack.
