Nigeria extorts power to Niger, Togo and benin so they won't dam the waters that feed our major power plants -presidency
The Presidency has explained why the federal government exports power to Niger, Togo and Benin.
Reacting to report of the country's borders being on persistent blackout despite the continous export of electricity to other countries on credit, President Muhammadu Buhari’s spokesman Garba Shehu described the claim as “hyperbolic and terribly misleading.”
He noted that 90 percent of the electricity generated in the country was distributed and consumed by Nigerians. According to Garba Shehu, the last review in 2019 revealed that the amount of credit extended to Niger, Benin, and Togo stood at $69 million.
