82 year old hypertensive patient recovers from COVID-19 in osun

An Eighty-two-year-old woman has recovered from COVID-19 in Osun state.

The state Commissioner for Health, Rafiu Isamotu, who disclosed this to newsmen today May 29, said the Octogenarian was a hypertensive patient who survived the deadly disease despite medical opinion that older persons with chronic diseases have slimmer chances of survival.

Isamotu said the elderly patient spent just 9-days at the state Isolation in Osogbo, the state capital, without showing any symptoms of the disease.

. “The story of the 82-year-old widow who recovered from the dreaded coronavirus provides a glimmer of hope, considering that she is a hypertensive patient on medication,.

Although when she arrived at our Isolation centre on the 13th of May, she had no cough, difficulty in breathing, sore throat, fever or anosmia associated with the virus except for diarrhoea and we successfully treated her for it and she was stable all through the period of hospitalisation.

On her 9th day on admission, we carried out a follow-up Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test on her and the result came back negative and she was subsequently discharged on the 24th of May, 2020. Furthermore, a follow-up at her home after her discharge revealed that she was stable.” the Commissioner said

Emir of rano is sick but not related to Coronavirus- officials

Officials of the Rano Emirate Council in Kano State has confirmed that the Emir of Rano, Dr Tafida Abubakar Ila II, is sick but not related to covid-19. This was coming as reports making rounds in the state says the Emir is hospitalized over suspected case of covid-19. The officials on the Emirates official twitter handle said the Emir is fast recuperating on his sickbed. Boko Haram throws Maiduguri into darkness again, blows up power tower.

Barely 72 hours after electric power was restored in Maiduguri, Borno State, Boko Haram insurgents on Saturday, March 27, blew up another transmission tower in the city. Premium Times reports that the insurgents planted explosives on each leg of the tower, which they detonated at about 6 a.m. In January, the terrorists struck power installations thrice at a location about 50km from Maiduguri to keep the city in the dark. The power, was however, restored on Wednesday, March 24, after nearly two months of blackout. While reconnecting the installation, three TCN officials were severely injured by a landmine planted by the insurgents. Another official was said to have lost his life after falling off a tower. The city has now been thrown into another darkness following the Saturday morning attack.
