82 year old hypertensive patient recovers from COVID-19 in osun

An Eighty-two-year-old woman has recovered from COVID-19 in Osun state.

The state Commissioner for Health, Rafiu Isamotu, who disclosed this to newsmen today May 29, said the Octogenarian was a hypertensive patient who survived the deadly disease despite medical opinion that older persons with chronic diseases have slimmer chances of survival.

Isamotu said the elderly patient spent just 9-days at the state Isolation in Osogbo, the state capital, without showing any symptoms of the disease.

. “The story of the 82-year-old widow who recovered from the dreaded coronavirus provides a glimmer of hope, considering that she is a hypertensive patient on medication,.

Although when she arrived at our Isolation centre on the 13th of May, she had no cough, difficulty in breathing, sore throat, fever or anosmia associated with the virus except for diarrhoea and we successfully treated her for it and she was stable all through the period of hospitalisation.

On her 9th day on admission, we carried out a follow-up Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test on her and the result came back negative and she was subsequently discharged on the 24th of May, 2020. Furthermore, a follow-up at her home after her discharge revealed that she was stable.” the Commissioner said

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) Maiduguri Zonal Command, has arrested a 28-year-old Islamic teacher over alleged sexual exploitation of a 16-year-old student. A statement issued by the agency on Thursday, August 5, said the suspect, Yanga Abdullahi of Maura ward, is a teacher at Darul-Arqam Islamiyya school, Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. Emir of rano is sick but not related to Coronavirus- officials

Officials of the Rano Emirate Council in Kano State has confirmed that the Emir of Rano, Dr Tafida Abubakar Ila II, is sick but not related to covid-19. This was coming as reports making rounds in the state says the Emir is hospitalized over suspected case of covid-19.
