Death toll from gas explosion in Lagos rises to five

The death toll from the gas tanker explosion that occurred on Thursday night June 17 along the Bank Anthony Way in Lagos has risen to five.   Three of the bodies, said to be adult males, were found inside one of the stores at the OPIC plaza while operatives of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) search for a child whose mother was rescued earlier this morning.   It was learnt the woman, who was at the Chinese Restaurant, kept crying about her child when she was being evacuated to the hospital which gave insights that someone was trapped.   A further search by the operatives led to the discovery of two more bodies, one of which was a child.   Speaking on the rescue operation, the Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, said   “First responders worked to control the spread to the adjacent properties as well as the nearby petrol station until 0...

A 45-year-old man has been handed a life sentence after being arrested and arraigned in court for defiling his 15-year-old daughter and infecting her with HIV.    The convict who lives with his daughter at Muthara village in Tigania East, Meru County of Kenya, reportedly dragged her to the farm where he defiled her on several occasions.   The victim fled to a nearby homestead where she was found and taken to Muthara Police Station. Upon her release, the girl declined to accompany her father home. She told the officers that her father had repeatedly defiled her and her teachers who she told about it, have refused to do anything about it.    The investigating officer took the man’s clinic card and discovered that he had enrolled to collect anti-retroviral drugs. Nigerian driver knocks down a 27-yr-old teacher, then dumps her in a bush where she died in Ghana

The police in Accra, Ghana, have arrested and charged a Nigerian driver, Emeka Adams, 42, with the murder of a 27-year-old teacher, Alice Adamtey, after he knocked her down with his vehicle and abandoned her in a bush at Abokobi leading to her death. The suspect is alleged to have knocked the teacher down with a car and later abandoned her at an unknown location to die. A 42-year-old unlicensed Nigerian man, Emeka Adams, has been arrested and charged with the murder of a 27-year-old teacher in Accra, Ghana. It was gathered that the suspect, on June 7, 2021, at about 7pm, knocked Alice Adamtey down with his vehicle, and later abandoned her at a bush to die. Gospel singer, Tope Alabi, has apologized to her colleague, Adeyinka Alaseyori, for publicly criticizing her song, ‘Oniduro mi’.  In a viral video on social media recently, Tope Alabi could be heard correcting the song publicly as she stands on her word that it is so wrong to refer to God as ‘Oniduro mi’ [my guarantor] while backing her claims with caution from the holy spirits from when she tried to sing along. Husband of Caroline Crouch confesses to suffocating her weeks after claiming criminals broke into their home and strangled her

The Greek man said he killed his British wife, Crouch, 20, after she vowed to leave him and take their baby with her.   Babis Anagnostopoulos, 33, admitted to suffocating her to death after more than eight hours of interrogation in the homicide department of Athens' police headquarters. Babis, a helicopter pilot, had claimed that Albanian criminals broke into his home on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, blindfolded him, tied him up, then beat his wife and strangled her to death. He added that the killers went off with 15,000 Euros in real money and other valuables.   He even granted interviews, pretending to be a grieving husband for over a month. Police arrest 65-yr-old man for r*ping his 85-yr-old stepmother twice in Ekiti

The Police in Ekiti State have arrested a 65-year-old man, Durodola Ogundele for allegedly r*ping his stepmother twice in Ido-Osi area of the state. It was gathered that the suspect had, on June 15, allegedly had canal knowledge of his 85-year-old stepmother in her room. The command’s spokesperson, Mr Sunday Abutu, in a statement on Thursday, said the suspect, who’s a son to the victim’s late husband, on the fateful day entered the victim’s room to assist her in applying herbal medicine on her legs to ease her pain. “The victim alleged that after applying the herbal medicine on her legs, the suspect forcefully had sexual intercourse with her twice,” Abutu said. 

Two Nigerian ladies found guilty of trafficking poor girls for prostitution in Ireland

Two Nigerian women, who ran a prostitution ring from a base in Mullingar have been found guilty of human trafficking offences in what is believed to be the first conviction of its type in Ireland, TheJournal reports.  44-year-old Alicia Edosa and Edith Enoghaghase, 31, were each found guilty on two counts of trafficking women into Ireland on dates between September 2016 and June 2018, following a six-week jury trial at Mullingar Circuit Criminal Court. . The jury of ten men and two women also convicted them of a single offence of organising prostitution as well as a series of money laundering offences. While Enoghaghase’s husband, Omonuwa Desmond Osaighbovo, 30, was found not guilty of a single charge of prostitution but guilty of four money laundering offences. The trial heard evidence from four women who claimed they were forced into prostitution in Ireland after undergoing a voodoo ceremony in Nigeria.
