Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has reacted to report of Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa saying that Boko Haram members are regrouping in his state. Speaking during a media briefing in Abuja, Lai Mohammed said he spoke with the governor who told him that he was misquoted by the media.  He said “On the statement allegedly credited to the governor of Nasarawa State, I was also concerned and took on the governor, I asked him for further explanation. The governor said it was a case of being quoted out of context.  “That what he told the media was that he went to see Mr. President, first to wish him Happy New Year, secondly to thank him for the forces he had sent to Nasarawa State to dislodge the bandits who were trying to behave like Boko Haram. “That was how the issue of Boko Haram came about. So, it was a clear case of being quoted out of context.” 

The agency said their arrest was triggered by intelligence reports detailing their alleged involvement in internet fraud and other related offences. The suspects were identified as: Kayode Adeoye, Ogunleye Yemi, Adio Taheed, Olaniyi Joshua and AbdulAfeez Kehinde. Others are: Bakare Omolayo, Adesuntola Adebayo, Ridwan Gbolahan, Abdulfatai Waliu, Olayiwola Olamilekan, Raji Wasiu, Olawale Ibrahim and Tajudeen Mojeed. Four cars, Phones, Laptops, and other incriminating documents used in perpetrating the crime were recovered from them, the agency said. The suspects are all expected to be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded. 

A jealous wife has been arrested in Mexico after she reportedly stabbed her husband multiple times after finding old pictures of him having sex with 'another woman' without realizing the images were actually of her.     The woman, identified only as 'Leonora R', was arrested last week after law enforcement were called to a home in the municipality of Cajeme, Sonora, to reports of a domestic dispute.     When officers arrived they reportedly found that Leonora’s husband, identified as 'Juan N', had been stabbed multiple times on his legs and arms.     Police said the violent attack was sparked after Leonora found explicit photos on Juan’s cell phone, showing him having sex with someone she believed to be another woman.     Without giving him time to explain himself, Leonora allegedly began stabbing Juan over and over again, while hurling insults at him.     Officers said Juan was eventually able to wrestle the knife out of his...

The Oyo state police command has confirmed that one of the houses of Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho, was attacked in the early hours of today, January 26. A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, Fadeyi Olugbenga, says hoodlums who rode in a hummer bus and a Micra stormed the apartment, fired sporadic gunshots before setting the house ablaze. The statement adds that the incident is now being investigated. '' At about 0620 hrs of today 26/01/2021, report was received at Santo Police Station that some unidentified hoodlums came to Sunday Igboho's house at SOKA area of Ibadan in a Hummer bus and Micra firing sporadically, and set the house ablaze. The mini sitting room got burnt in the process while amount of other properties is yet to be estimated. The Inspector-General of Police, Adamu Mohammed has said that some of the youths who participated in the #EndSARS protest want to join the Nigeria Police Force. Speaking on a Channels Television’s programme on Monday January 25, the police chief said some of these youths want to join the force on the premise of "the service the police provide is a service of God." Adamu said “The youths who participated in the #EndSARS and the rest of them, many of them want to join the police. “Many of them will come and say, ‘Please, we want to join the police,’ because the service the police provide is a service of God.” On hospitals requesting police report before they attend to victims of gunshot wounds, the police chief told medical officers to save lives first before any other thought. Adamu added “Save life first… lives must be saved first before thinking of any other thing to do…there is no issue of asking for any police report before you treat anybody with gunshot wounds...

  The Nigerian government has said it will shut down NYSC orientation camps that fail to comply with protocols put in place to curb the spread of coronavirus. The Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare, while speaking at the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 briefing on Monday, Jan 25, said the government was concerned about the number of corps members recently infected with the virus. He said the management of the NYSC cannot afford to risk the lives and health of the corps members. He said: "Going forward, any state that refuses to cooperate fully in the aspect of COVID-19 protocol adherence, full testing using the Rapid Diagnostic Test kits and data management by the NCDC and also the trained doctors, will have its orientation camp shut down." Mr Dare noted that if the camps are shut, corps members in that camp will be reposted to the adjoining state. NYSC camps were recently reopened after being shut down for a while due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

A masseur who raped a client while she wept during a 90-minute sex attack at her home after she ordered his services online has been found guilty.  The masseur, Cosmin Tudorache, 33, repeatedly assaulted the woman after advertising his services on urbanmassage.com.  According to Mail Online, the victim ordered his services online to treat herself to a massage after her roommate went out with friends for the evening on October 6, 2017. But the masseur, instead,  subjected her to a string of sex attacks when he arrived to do his job. Tudorache insisted his client consented to sex after she became 'horny' and reached out to grab his private parts. However, a jury at Inner London Crown Court convicted him of rape and two counts of assault by penetration. He was remanded in custody at HMP Thameside ahead of sentence on March 12.
