I have no plans to return to APC- Governor Obaseki says as he visits Buhari after his re-election

The Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, has dismissed any possibility of him returning to the All Progressives Congress (APC).   The governor who won his re-election last Saturday, stated this while speaking to State House Correspondents after meeting with President Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja today September 25. Recall that Governor Obaseki defected from the APC to the PDP in June this year following his disagreement with his predecessor and former chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomole. There have been insinuations he might return to the APC since he has won the governorship election.   However, speaking to state house correspondents after meeting with President Buhari, Governor Obaseki said defecting to the APC would negatively affect his credibility. Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, says Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, who was recently re-elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, is free to return to the All Progressives Congress if he feels the PDP is not working for him.   The governor made this known in an interview with Channels TV on Friday morning, September 25.   Obaseki defected from the APC to the PDP in June 2020 after a long battle with his predecessor and former National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomole. BREAKING: APC suspends Gov Fayemi for hosting Fani-Kayode, plotting defeat in Edo State

The Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, has been suspended by the State Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC). This was confirmed in a statement signed by seven members of the executive committee on Friday. According to the statement, Fayemi was suspended due to “his numerous anti-party activities, especially his role in the recently concluded governorship election in Edo State which is contrary to the provisions of Article 21 (A) (ii) of the APC Constitution.” The party claims Fayemi hosted a bigwig of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Femi Fani-Kayode, five days before the Edo Election, during which they planned a coup against Edo APC. Another allegation leveled against Governor Fayemi, is that he played a role in the gubernatorial election in Oyo State and supported the PDP candidate to defeat the APC candidate.

US to restrict students from Nigeria, others to two-year courses

The United States is set to restrict students from Nigeria and others from admission of more than two years. This is according to the new guidelines from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The new measures were published in the U.S. federal register. Two Nigerian men, one woman arrested in Vietnam drug bust

Anti-narcotics police in Ho Chi Minh City, on Thursday, September 24, arrested two Nigerian nationals and one Vietnamese woman for trafficking methamphetamine.   Ochie Paul Ejike, 51, and his 35-year-old Vietnamese wife and business partner Ly Moc Kiu, along with fellow Nigerian Chukwuemeka Confidence Onyiriuka were identified as "major figures" in a drug trafficking ring monitored by police for several months prior to the arrests.   Earlier, police had found Chukwuemeka often received shipments of clothing from Cambodia at an apartment in Binh Tan District, though without any clothes ever seen being sold.   Every week, Chukwuemeka had met Ochie and his partner at various secret locations. Lagos State seeks monthly payment of house rent for residents

Babajide Sanwo-Olu The Lagos State Government has called on stakeholders in real estate sector to work out modalities for residents to pay house rents on monthly basis instead of yearly. Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, made the call on Thursday in Lekki, during the Policy Roundtable Dialogue with key stakeholders in the Real Estate Sector. The roundtable, with the theme ”International Best Practices On Real Estate Regulations”, was organised by the Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority (LASRERA). Sanwo-Olu said that a situation whereby residents faced pressure once their rents were due was not palatable, hence, should be looked into. He called for synergy between the state government and stakeholders in the real estate sector to address issue of housing deficit and reduce rents in the state. 26-year-old man arrested for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl in Anambra (photo)

The police in Anambra state have arrested 26-year-old Stanley Okpara pictured above for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl on Wednesday, September 24.   A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, Mohammed Haruna, states that the suspect who resides at NO.14 Edeh road Okpoko, allegedly lured the ten-year-old girl inside his shop when she went to supply him waterproof bags and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.   He said the police were alerted and they took the victim to the hospital for medical Examination where penetration and laceration of her hymen was confirmed by the medical doctor.   The spokesperson added that the case would be transferred to the State criminal investigation department for discreet investigation as directed by the Commissioner of Police CP John B.Abang after which the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution.
