Brazilian gospel singer turned MP is charged with 'murdering her husband with help from at least 10' of their 55 children

A Brazilian Congresswoman, Flordelis de Souza has been charged with ordering the execution of her husband with the help of at least 10' of their 55 children.    Pastor Anderson do Carmo was shot more than 30 times at their home in June 2019.   In a statement released this week, the Rio de Janeiro state police said a total of 11 people have been charged in connection with the crime, including six of Souza's children and one granddaughter.   Investigators believe up to 10 of her children may have been involved in the crime, local sources say.   The couple shared 55 biological and adopted children together.      Police issued nine arrest warrants and 14 search warrants in the cities of Rio de Janeiro, Niterói, São Gonçalo, and Brasília, where the congresswoman has an apartment.   Police said Souza's motive was 'a struggle for power and her financial emancipation.'    An arrest warrant is yet to be issued for Souza, who is an elect...

Zimbabwe makes it illegal for schools to expel pregnant girls

Zimbabwe has made it illegal for schools to expel pupils who get pregnant, a measure aimed at tackling gender inequality in the classroom and discouraging many girls from dropping out of school. Chloroquine potent for COVID-19 prevention , says NAFDAC

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), yesterday, declared that chloroquine prevents the dreaded coronavirus. Its Director General, Prof. Christianah Mojisola Adeyeye, during an online interactive session with journalists said: “We realise that chloroquine can be used in the early stage of the COVID-19 infection as prophylactic treatment. Science does not lie.” The pharmacist further explained: “On March 20, 2020 during a press briefing, I said I was going through a literature and I found (out) that chloroquine and remdesivir killed COVID-19 in vitro – that is in the laboratory. Girl arraigned in rivers court for indecent dressing and taking photograph of policeman on duty without his consent

The police in Rivers state on Tuesday August 25, arraigned a 21-year-old girl, Blessing Levi, before a Magistrate Court sitting in Choba Community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, for ''indecent dressing and taking a photograph of a policeman on duty without consent.'' The police had dragged Blessing before the court on a three counts charge bordering on indecent dressing and taking a snapshot of the officer on duty without seeking permission. According to the charge sheet, Blessing was alleged to have some time in May 2020, snapped a police sergeant without his consent.  The charge sheet also stated that the lady was ''dressed indecently with an intention to cause disorderliness amongst members of the public.''
