Uproar as FAAN increases passengers service charge by 100 percent

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has concluded plans to increase Passenger Service Charge (PSC) by 100 percent. The new charge, effective from August 1, requires passengers to pay N2,000 as PSC, instead of the former N1000 for domestic flights. As for international passengers, they will have to pay $100 as opposed to the previous $50. Managing Director of FAAN Capt Rabiu Yadudu made this known in a letter to all airlines dated June 22, 2020. In the letter titled "Implementation of the approved new passenger service charge (PSC) effective August 1, 2020" with reference Ref: FAAN/HQ/MD/18E/VOL.86/72, it was stated that the decision was premised on approval by the Minister of Aviation in a letter referenced FMT/FMA/COM/T/69 dated August 3rd, 2017, which he said was sought with the intention to improve and upgrade airports infrastructure among others. Oyo youngest commissioner test positive for coronavirus

Oyo state's 28-year-old commissioner for youth development and sports, Seun Fakorede has tested positive for Coronavirus. . The commissioner made the announcement via a LinkedIn post he shared on Friday June 26. Fakorede who noted that the disease is not a death sentence, stated that he will remain in isolation and will fight the disease victoriously. . 16 year old tiktok star siya kakkar killed herself after receiving threat

Siya Kakkar, the 16-year-old Indian TikTok star who committed suicide killed herself after she allegedly received 'threats'. The fast-growing star, known for her dance videos was found dead in her home in Preet Vihar, New Delhi. . Kakkar posted a smiling video of herself on top of a building in New Delhi hours before she killed herself. According to family sources, the teenager had been receiving 'threats' on the internet, but police said they were unable to confirm the motive at the current stage of the investigation. . Super eagles defender Leon balogun signs permanent deal with Wigan

Nigerian defender, Leon Balogun, has completed a move to Wigan Athletic following his successful loan spell at the club. Balogun, 31, has impressed at Wigan since his loan move in January, helping the Latics achieve four clean sheets in six Championship matches and move away from the relegation zone. . The burial ceremony of former Governor of Oyo state, Abiola Ajimobi has been postponed as confirmed by his spokesperson Bolaji Tunji. . Speaking to newsmen at the late politician's Ibadan residence on Friday morning, Tunji said the family would soon make an announcement of the burial programme. Ajimobi's spokesperson said; . “The funeral arrangements will be announced soon by the family but it will be observed privately so as to be in accordance with the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) guidelines.” Ajimobi died on Thursday June 25, days after he was placed on life support following Coronavirus complications he suffered.

Justin Bieber filed a $20 million lawsuit against two women who accused him of sexual assault on social media. In the defamation lawsuit against the two Jane Does with the Twitter handles @danielleglvn and @ItsnotKadi, Bieber's lawyers say the accusations against him are "factually impossible, and disproven both by indisputable documentary evidence and the individuals’ own admissions." The suit claims that the women “fraudulently schemed to seek attention and fame by maliciously posting despicable, blatantly false, fabricated, defamatory accusations that Justin Bieber engaged in sexual assault.” . He goes on to claim in the suit that “it is abundantly clear that these two individuals are trying to capitalize on the climate of fear permeating the entertainment industry.” On June 20, the two women alleged that Bieber sexually assaulted them between 2014-2015.
